The Convention prohibits the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel mines and requires the destruction of existing stockpiles and assistance to victims.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"391\" data-end=\"534\">This meeting represents an opportunity to reaffirm Italy\u2019s commitment\u2014being one of the sector\u2019s largest donors\u2014to supporting demining programs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"536\" data-end=\"1108\">In his statement during the General Debate, Ambassador Bencini highlighted the complexity of the current security environment, in which \u201cthe goal of a mine-free world is more urgent than ever.\u201d The Ambassador also reiterated Italy\u2019s commitment to the full implementation of the Convention\u2019s objectives through the Political Declaration and the Action Plan adopted last year in Siem Reap.
