Informal exchanges on artificial intelligence in the military domain and its implications for international peace and security began on 15 June in Geneva and will conclude on 17 June.<\/p>\n
Representatives of Member States, including Italy, international and regional organizations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as well as experts from academia, civil society, scientific and technical communities, and industry are participating in the meetings.<\/p>\n
These consultations were established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 80\/58, adopted on 1 December 2025, entitled Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain and Its Implications for International Peace and Security<\/em>.<\/p>\n The objective is to provide an inclusive forum in which all stakeholders can engage in dialogue and share ideas, assessments, and concerns regarding a topic that is not currently governed by a specific international framework, yet has a significant and cross-cutting impact on international peace and security.<\/p>\n In a video-recorded opening message, the United Nations High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu, introduced the debate by raising three core questions: how to translate engagement into action; how to promote trust and build a common understanding; and how to ensure a genuinely inclusive process for all stakeholders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Informal exchanges on artificial intelligence in the military domain and its implications for international peace and security began on 15 June in Geneva and will conclude on 17 June.
