\u2018\u2019Italy has recognized artificial intelligence as a central pillar of the G7\u2019s agenda\u2019\u2019 affirmed Ambassador Bencini, highlighting Italy\u2019s steadfast commitment to this pivotal issue. In fact, Italy has co-sponsored a UN resolution recognizing AI\u2019s potential to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and foster global peace. \u201cHarnessing the benefits and addressing the challenges of AI will be at the heart of the work of the diplomatic community for years to come\u201d, Ambassador Bencini remarked.<\/p>\n
Within the framework of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), the Italian delegation in Geneva is committed to facilitating discussions with a view to eventually negotiating an additional protocol to the CCW on lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS).
