Italy’s Participation in Meetings of the Working Groups of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)

Italy

Within the framework of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), meetings of the Working Group on Effective Treaty Implementation (WGETI) and its subgroups, as well as the Working Group on Treaty Universalization (WGTU) and the Working Group on Transparency and Reporting (WGTR), were held on February 20 in Geneva.

The Arms Trade Treaty is a legally binding instrument that regulates the international trade in conventional weapons, with the objective of reducing illicit trafficking and preventing their use in violation of human rights.

The Italian delegation to the Conference on Disarmament regularly takes part in these meetings.

Some of the conclusions of the Working Groups will be considered at the 10th Conference of States Parties, scheduled to take place in Geneva from August 19 to 23, 2024.
