1st March 2024 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (APMBC). This Convention prohibits the use, production, stockpiling, and transfer of anti-personnel mines.
Following participation this morning in the ninth “Pledging Conference,” an event where Italy renewed its financial support to the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) of the Convention, the Italian delegation took part in an event organized in preparation for the APMBC Review Conference, scheduled from November 24 to 29 in Siem Reap under the Presidency of Cambodia. Italy’s strong commitment is evidenced by the role it plays as a member of the “Friends of the President” group, a group of countries particularly active in achieving the goals of the Convention.
