The Tenth Conference of States Parties (CSP10) to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) began on 19 August in Geneva. The conference will explore issues related to the effective implementation of the Treaty, its universalization, transparency, and reporting, and will approve recommendations for the next preparatory cycle.

The Arms Trade Treaty is a legal instrument that regulates the international trade of conventional weapons, with the aim of reducing illicit trafficking and preventing their use in violation of human rights.

During the general debate, the Italian delegation, represented by Giorgio Aliberti, Director of the National Authority-UAMA, reiterated our full support for the humanitarian objectives of the Treaty, the importance of expanding its universalization, the need to respect transparency and reporting obligations, and the necessity of achieving financial stability for the effective implementation of the ATT.

The CSP10 proceedings will conclude on August 23.
