Italy’s participation in the intersessional meetings and the First Preparatory Meeting for the Fifth Review Conference of the Ottawa Convention

The Italian Delegation to the Conference on Disarmament participated in the intersessional meetings of the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel mines, mandating the destruction of existing stockpiles and assistance to victims.

The meetings began on 18 June in Geneva, addressing various aspects related to the implementation of the Convention. They concluded on 20 June with the First Preparatory Meeting of the Fifth Review Conference, scheduled to be held this year in Siem Reap, Cambodia, from November 25 to 29.

The meetings provided an opportunity for Italy, one of the major donors in this field, to reaffirm its commitment to supporting clearance efforts, cooperation, and assistance to victims in various countries affected by the use of these devices.
