The fifth Review Conference of the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC) was held from 25 to 29 November in Siem Reap, Cambodia, under the Presidency of the Senior Minister and First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Clearance Authority, Ly Thuch.
The Conference represented an opportunity to assess the implementation of the provisions of the Convention in several areas (universalisation, destruction of stocks, reclamation, risk education, assistance to victims, cooperation and assistance and measures to ensure compliance) and reach the approval of a Political Declaration and a new Action Plan for the period 2025-2029.
During the High Level Segment, Italy reiterated its aspiration to achieve a mine-free world, which must not remain just an aspiration but a tangible goal. The intervention also made it possible to highlight the important contribution in terms of demining and assistance to victims provided by our Cooperation.
