At the high-level segment of the Conference on Disarmament, numerous delegations, including the Italian one, wished to reaffirm their countries’ full support for Ukraine, which has been subjected to a brutal and unjustified armed aggression by the Russian Federation for three years now.
Simultaneously with the statement of the Russian delegate, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, many countries left their national seats as a sign of protest. At the same time, representatives of those same countries joined the Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mariana Betsa, for a picture marking the third anniversary of the Russian invasion. With a similar intent, the EU delegation delivered a joint statement by 40 countries condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine, which was endorsed by numerous countries, including Italy.
